Christmas Party Highlights
By Antya Miller
The 2006 Christmas Party & Awards was another great event. Everyone had a wonderful time seeing and visiting with one other. The setting, food, decorations, music and people were all great. Thank you to the Event Committee and volunteers, especially Ed D’Ascoli, Chet Naylor, Carolyne Lazar, Donna Morrow, Joyce Farrell, and Ron Valenciana.
AWARDS:
• Randy Rarick was the North Shore Kama’aina of the Year for his contributions to the North Shore. As the Executive Director of The Triple Crown of Surfing, Randy made the North Shore the “Surfing Capital of the World” and helped make surfing one of the largest economies of the North Shore.

Lifeguards receiving awards were: Kolohe Blomfield and Mitch Richardson (Outstanding Service to the North Shore), Fred Booth (Rookie of the Year), and Rick Williams (Aikane O ‘Opio or Friend to Youth). |

Two people were chosen for the Volunteer of the Year award: Gil
Riviere and Michelle Fleischer. Gil represented the Chamber at monthly Oahu Metropolitan Planning Organization meetings (with a perfect record), insuring North Shore transportation projects were included in the planning process to guarantee funding. Michelle volunteered all year to send out the new and renewing membership packets and thank you notes. Mahalo to both of them for giving so much of their time to better the North Shore community. |
